Benn Grant – Computer Guy to the Rescue!

There are a lot of small to medium sized businesses out there that sometimes need some IT help. How do small and medium businesses deal with this? How do you deal with this on a personal level for your own computers, tablets or phones that are now out of warranty?

Sometimes you may call the company that built the device anyway, get stuck on hold for lots of time and hope and pray that somehow a fix will materialize. Sometimes it will be to call some random person in some other country and hopefully work through the issues that way.

I’ve recently met and started working with a Computer and Tech Consultant – Benn Grant at E-Fix computers. He’s an incredibly knowledgable guy and no job is too small for him to jump in, and really help us – “the little guy”

Benn also knows technology, loves staying up to date on the latest gadgets, phones and has a great monthly newsletter that I also currently subscribe to. You can contact him at his website or at benn@4efix.com

If you are in the NH/VT region or not! Benn is great guy and knows his stuff. If you have a few minutes even just subscribe to his newsletter and good luck with your computer and techie problems!

So what is a Technology and Market Assessment?

Magnifying glass finding a market

In this day and age of entrepreneurship, starting new businesses and balancing all of the needs and questions that this means many people wonder “where should I start” when developing an idea into a company?

Many people will tell you that you should start with a business plan. While this is good advice, I’d recommend starting with a technology and market assessment. But the assessment is really a deep dive investigation into your idea, with the hope of seeing “Does this make business sense.”

Visual design is often the polar opposite of engineering: trading hard edges for subjective decisions based on gut feelings and personal experiences. It’s messy, unpredictable, and notoriously hard to measure. The apparently erratic behavior of artists drives engineers bananas. Their decisions seem arbitrary and risk everything with no guaranteed benefit.

Scott Stevens

Design is the search for a magical balance between business and art; art and craft; intuition and reason; concept and detail; playfulness and formality; client and designer; designer and printer; and printer and public.

Second College Grant – Great North Woods

A number of these nature images come from copious amounts of time spent up exploring one of New Hampshire’s great wildernesses known as the Second College Grant. I’ve been fortunate enough to vacation up there for a number of years with my family, and its always been a peaceful and beautiful way to recharge the batteries.

Bring a Photograph to Life

There are three major pieces that I think really make a difference when it comes to taking good photographs. The first is the subject matter. This is honestly an easy one that doesn’t require “artistic skill” and anyone can really start to get it. Can you make an emotional connection with the subject? This is not necessarily about design, or color, or photo composition. But try to make that connection especially when you are just out there taking quick point and shoot pictures – what is the subject thinking or feeling. Or if its a landscape or an animal, how does the way that image make you feel? At the end of the day you will prefer taking shots that either you feel emotional about, or somehow making that human connection with the person you are taking the picture of.
